Data & Targeting Director
Climate campaign seeks data expert help protect clean air, save the planet and build long-term advocacy capacity by managing data training and processes, executing data-intensive programs and creating and leveraging analytical insights. This position encompasses a wide range of responsibilities and professional opportunities, from pulling lists from Catalist and managing VAN to analyzing programs and reports to managing projects and relationships with allied data staffers. A successful candidate will have a solid background in data management, training and working with coalition partners, and proven program management skills, along with the desire for professional growth.
The Data & Targeting Director is responsible for…
Data & Targeting Management
Working with partner organization field organizers and in-state leadership to ensure data is being accessed, collected and entered correctly.
Executing remote trainings and data quality assessments; identifying issues, devising and helping implement solutions.
Producing and analyzing regular reports on in-house, partner and relevant external programs.
Improving and executing targeting of members, previous action takers and general public prospects.
Liaising with partner organization data and leadership staff to identify and implement data architecture improvements and solutions.
Importing/exporting data, setting up automated functions and managing list matches, joins, dedupes, etc.
Project management for paid vendor-executed grassroots advocacy, including phone programs.
Ensuring partner organizations are updating relevant shared data accurately and on a timely basis.
Analytics and Testing Advancement
Devising and implementing an analytical agenda in concert with the Mobilization Director.
Actively learning from external tests and data libraries, identifying best practices and areas for future testing and experimentation.
Evaluating partner organization tests and experiments.
To be qualified for the job one must have…
At least 3-5 years of experience managing data for advocacy, membership and/or political campaign organizations.
Familiarity with VAN and Catalist. Familiarity with SQL, MS Access and QuickBase is a plus.
Ability to successfully juggle multiple projects in a fast-paced, high-expectation campaign environment.
Collaborative approach and ability to work successfully with data and program staff internally and with partner organizations.
Strong people and communication skills, including training others, translating complex data into plain
English and the ability to write concise summaries, recommendations and plans.
Strong desire to learn, grow and improve, and to help others do so.
