Senior UX Designer at NGPVAN

The Senior UX Designer will join our Unified Design Team, a team that works in unison across the entire product suite to unify and modernize the design of all products, existing and new. Our ideal Senior UX Designer candidate has a strong passion for delivering beautiful designs.
This candidate will engage in the design process from start to finish, including user research in the form of interviews and usability research, delivering functional mockups of product designs, assisting with the development of a unified product design framework, and implementation of new product designs. This person is responsible for helping to raise the product design bar across the entire company and encouraging a company culture which shares a passion for innovation and excellence in design. The Unified Design Team tackles large, high impact projects like modernizing and unifying the design of all of our major products, including VAN and NGP.
The team actively develops a UI framework that is used across our product suite (Progress) saving resources by reusing visual elements, unifying the experience for end users, and empowering engineers throughout the company with the resources they need to add simple features that meet the company’s standards for high quality designs.
Participate in and contribute to the planning process for new features and projects
Produce designs and present to engineers, managers, other designers, and senior executives
Refine designs by considering live customer data, market research, and usability studies
Assist in the development and evaluation of personas, user stories, and usability studies
Develop and contribute to wireframes, mockups, and interactive prototypes
Work with other teams to understand and respond to their design needs
Help develop UI pattern library (Progress) for use across our product suite
Evangelize design guidelines and patterns to create a cohesive, unified look and feel across all of our products
Skills & Requirements
Bachelor’s Degree in Graphic Design, Communication, Marketing, Human Computer Interaction, related field OR equivalent work experience
3 or more years’ experience in product design or user interface design
Proficiency in common design tools such as Adobe Creative Suite, HTML/CSS, JS
Experience with building and executing a visual design strategy across multiple products
Strong customer advocate and ability to translate customer needs into great UI design
Preference for delivering simple solutions to difficult design challenges
Possess a strong understanding of all stages of product development, including design processes for enterprise level applications
Understanding of an agile product development lifecycle
Desire to embrace and push organizational change around UX and UI
Excellent communication (both written and verbal) and project management skills
Strong technical aptitude. Demonstrate the ability to understand the consequences, both to the business and the user experience, of technical decisions
Experience motivating other stakeholders around the importance of beautiful design
