FUNDRAISING DIRECTOR FOR THE GREEN NEW DEAL NETWORK
The Green New Deal Network (GNDN) is looking to immediately hire an experienced, organized, and competent Fundraising Director to spearhead its multi-million dollar, multi-year fundraising drive to secure the necessary resources to win Green New Deal policies at the local, state and federal levels.
The Fundraising Director will be the primary staff person responsible to secure funding to carry out the GNDN’s ambitious organizing, communications, policy, advocacy, and political programs. They will be supervised by the Managing Director and will work closely with the fundraising staff of GNDN partner groups to develop and implement a plan for success in part by deploying both the principals of key national groups to engage funders and organize funder allies to engage their colleagues. The Fundraising Director will also be responsible for tasks that include, but are not limited to:
- Leading our prospect management strategy, including maintaining current prospects and identifying new prospects for funding and new strategies for securing funds;
- Managing relationships with high net worth individuals and foundation officials;
- Scheduling meetings with funders,preparing GNDN principals and senior staff, and ensuring that we nail next steps;
- Strategizing with allies, supportive funders, and fundraising staff at GNDN organizations regarding appropriate outreach via webinars, briefings, conferences, etc.;
- Managing revenue projections with detailed information including the amounts specific funders are projected to give and when;
- Overseeing the development of fundraising materials;
- Overseeing the writing proposals and reporting on progress to donors;
- Designing a donor and prospect maintenance, ensuring we are tracking progress and are on top of acknowledgments; and
- Ensuring that fundraising activities are conducted in an equitable manner consistent with our values and adhere to our fundraising principles.
Required Experience, Skills, and Characteristics
The Fundraising Director should have at least five years of significant foundation and major donor experience. In particular, they should possess the following skills, experience, and characteristics:
- Fluent in 501c3 and 501c4 high dollar fundraising from individuals and foundations with $100K+ giving capacity;
- Strong communications skills — listening, speaking, and written;
- Comfort with numbers, projections, and budgeting protocols;
- Strong in person and remote facilitation skills;
- Strong project and fundraising campaign management skill, including tracking the details and the ability to prioritize and manage the fundraising time of principals and program leads;
- Demonstrated commitment to progressive values including but not limited to, racial justice, gender justice, LGBTQIA justice and other marginalized justice, and demonstrated understanding of the specific nuances associated with Indigenous peoples; and
- Willingness and ability to travel 1-2 times per month.
Compensation and Benefit Package
The annual salary range for the Fundraising Director, depending on experience, is $110,000 to $130,000. The GNDN will provide a generous benefit package including health, vision, and dental insurance; vacation, sick, and personal time off; a retirement plan; and assorted other benefits.
This position is located in Washington, DC or in New York City. For exceptional candidates, we will consider remote locations.
